Following the successful completion of the capping, plans have now been agreed with the Environment Agency (EA) that will enable us to start to accept waste back in to the landfill site. Site Update 4th May 2018

Work has been undertaken this week to improve the seal on the capping in a couple of small areas in the southeast corner of the site. This work is now complete and we are confident that there is an adequate seal in place. We will continue to monitor the site to ensure that there are no further areas that require attention. Having successfully anchored the capping using the long reach excavator we expect the work in the southeast corner of the site to be completed today. We are also confident that the three new pin wells will be connected to the existing infrastructure and will start collecting landfill gas from this area. Whilst the majority of the capping work in a smaller area in the southeast of the site is now complete, the severity of the slope is making it difficult for the team to get a seal down the westerly side. The work to cap a much smaller area in the southeast corner of the site that was still emitting an odour has progressed well. The plastic capping is now complete and the work to install three additional pin wells (to extract the landfill gas) has begun. Site Update 13th April 2018

The major engineering works to install a temporary plastic cap and seal an area of approximately 8600sqm was completed earlier this month. This work also saw the installation of a network of additional landfill gas collection lines under the cap to capture the surface emissions.
